Your tutorials are amazingly helpful. I love MyPaint, but there is sadly not to many tutorials on the subject. But your tutorials make up for that loss! They are FANTASTIC! Thank you so much!

This is amazing and incredibly FUN painting software! I have used photoshop for years, but it will be a long time before I open the program again after finding this. The ease of use is great, making GIMP very user friendly. Thank you SO MUCH!

Okay I remember why I didn't.
I don't have all the brushes.. And the 4B (the only 'pencil' I have) isn't textured at all, only looks slightly glowing.

Hiho :)
I joined your pictures together into one .pdf file, so you only have got one document instead of 6 single images. I can also, if you like, recreate it "from scratch" (not actually from scratch, but I'd like to display the actual *text* and not an *image of text* so you can search the document, for example), though I'm not sure if it makes sense for so few pages.
Do you by chance also know the other (default-)brushes well enough to describe them / display their usage / etc.? It would be pretty nice to have some reference sheet of how brushes work / which effects can be achieved. I can even think of a little MyPaint introduction (e.g. UI overview, default keybinding cheatsheet and so on) on the first few pages.
Oh, I'm just thinking aloud, in case you wondered why I write this :D

About the PDF Ok for me, and thanks for this work.
Explain the brushes from other artist is complex, because they are the creators and they really know how his brushes work, the best way to use it etc..but if you ask them maybe you will be surprised by their good responses, i dont know. I could make an aproach to explain the mypaint UI but this will be for the future because i am more focused on GPS. GPS 1.5 is ready for the final release , now i am working on promotion images and that kind of stuff.

take care.:D

I enjoyed viewing your document. I finally tried MyPaint out and I really like it. I wish I could combine it with Gimp, then I would be completely in love! As it is I go back and forth from Gimp into MyPaint. I absolutely love that you can control the size and opacity of your brushes with keys! I wish Gimp had that!! I LOVE your Ramon2 hair brushes!!! I am currently working on a dog portrait and I had already started it in Gimp and when I tried MyPaint I thought hey I should try making the dog's fur with it and OH My God what a time saver and the results are so realistic!!

Thanks for the comment.haha fur is always a nightmare but they (animals )are sooo cute with it.let me know how the project ends. hair brushes in my paint are very very fun,
You can work in .ora file format, this way gimp and mypaint shares the same format. i dont know too much about .ore file but is a standard for open source graphics.

I tried opening the .ora file in Gimp and it doesn't seem to support it. Am I missing something perhaps? Can you open it in yours? I would be so happy if I could preserve the layers from MyPaint and bring it into Gimp that way.

OMG thank you so much!!! :glomp:

I am now going to go look around to see if I can control the brush size with shortcut keys in Gimp. I know that you set up your own shortcut keys but uncertain if you can do it with the brush size, opacity etc. I really love that feature and hope that someday it will be an option in Gimp. I just wonder, why is myPaint so much better than GPS? I used both and prefer myPaint but there shouldn't be that much difference! Are the brushes that different? and if so why can't we have similar ones in Gimp? Sorry for thinking out loud here, but I am baffled and excited all at the same time.

You can do it(resize and control some brush aspects by keyboard),i know it because i usually use this feature. and i talked time ago about it in this video.[link] this is related to rotate the brush but you can do more things. just explore it!

Mypaint use vectorial brushes, that means these brushes are produced in a diferent way than gimp who use stamps brushes based on dabs.Weird? yews really! but the fact is that they allow to produce diferent efects in diferent ways. so it depends on picture you can use one or another. i am continue investigating the .ora subject...

I see, so what program do you use to make the MyPaint brushes? Inkscape? I've only ever made a couple of brushes in Gimp a long time ago, I think I am too lazy to make my own now;) But that would certainly explain the difference between MyPaint and GPS. Vector is so much smoother.

I told vectorial but no .SVG for the moment. Vectorial in terms that is made mathematically by formulas... My paint brushes are allways based on Circle shape, no "irregular shapes is allowed" that is good becouse they are faster but they are limited to their shape. gimp uses "image samples" that give us a lot of control, amazing possibilities combining with creativity on .gih format.but they are slower. they use a dfferent aproach to be rendered. so if you want to work use both XDDD.
